Greetings BB Family, Bravo Black BEAT! You’ve proved to us that family IS important. Our annual pilgrimage for kinkster’s of many colors to attend our family reunion has hit another milestone. We couldn’t be more excited to cross the threshold of our 10th year! At our 5th year anniversary we asked that you wear Black & White for our formal dinner banquet, this year we’ve asked that you wear White, any way that you want: Formal or Casual. This is a ‘stand out’ year, and we’re ready to party like the rock stars for this special celebration. We’re throwing caution to the wind (forfeiting the Mayan 2012 Prophecy) as we meet head on with a dream fulfilled – 10 years! Apologies to you for being redundant, but this weekend is incredibly meaningful. 2012 has the exact same dates as our celebrated 5th year, and to exist for (at least) a decade is a goal we only hoped to have achieved.

Fun themes and breaking bread together would be in our plans to bring together a community that was seemingly nonexistent. As African Americans, there is a tendency for us to remain private to avoid the social stigma of being visible or associated to alternative lifestylers. Today, as television and theater readily promote images of us adorned in fetish attire and attending fetish events, it’s become easier throughout the years for us within our sexual and sensual preferences. Today, it’s okay to celebrate our lifestyles, although there is still a need for caution before acceptance is ever fully recognized. Black BEAT promotes a relaxed atmosphere to enable us to enjoy, educate ourselves, and make friendships with others like us.

For Black BEAT to survive, it’s important to have your continued support. We’ve lowered registration cost, adding menu items more palatable for personal budgets in hopes we can spend adult time together. Honestly, we’re uncertain if we’ll last another 10 years based on our national economic deficits. We’ve survived thus far because you made it so, you believed in our mission and vision, and our appreciation of your support will not ever go unnoticed. As shared each year, there are no private investors to aid in our struggle. We are totally dependent upon registrations and donations from the community to keep our vision alive.

This weekend we applaud you for sharing, caring, attending, and supporting Black BEAT Inc. Thank you for 10 years of support! Thank you for celebrating our alternative lives, and a special Thanks for the courage in celebrating you! Bravo! Black BEAT Inc.
