How is Black BEAT the 'first of its kind'?

Black BEAT is a highly organized, and targeted event available to African-Americans. This event includes all things frequently offered at munches and other single-day events plus a lot more. Never has there been such a large-scaled national event as Black BEAT.

What makes Black BEAT any different from my local munches and parties?

Local munches and parties are set for just that.. local. Black BEAT is a National event targeted especially for African-Americans and people of all races, ethincities, and sexual preferences. We are an inclusive group not exclusive. At local munches there is usually no more than 1 workshop or demonstration, if any at all. Mostly, munches are a meet and greet, sometimes with a few extras. Black BEAT is a comprehensive event with specific goals. Those goals are to bring African Americans and other minorities together. Interacting with the community at large. Bringing together a different and diverse perspective on workshops and topics that have yet to be presented.

I am of African-American descent but my partner is not. Can we attend?

Yes, please join us. Black BEAT welcomes everyone who wishes to partake in this event. Our goal is to reach those of like minds with a strong focus and emphases on African-Americans.

When will registration begin?

Registration will begin March 1st ~ August 4, 2008. Note: You must be 21 years or older to register for the Black BEAT Conferences. Photo ID will be checked upon conference check-in.

What options are being used for payment?

There are two (2) options available. Attendees may use our Regonline registration system via our website if paying by credit card, or US mail for money order payments. Payments will be accepted for Full Registration only. There will be a $4.50 service charge for all transactions regardless of payment method. All dollar amounts must correspond with your purchase and include your full legal name, names of guest(s) and your contact email address must accompany that payment.

What is included in my registration price:

Meet and Greet Social, One (1) Dinner Buffet, One (1) Award Luncheon meal, Two (2) nights of dungeon admission, Two (2) day admission into all workshops/demos, One (1) Vendor Market admission, One (1) Souvenir booklet, One (1) Personalized registration badge, and conference materials.

Will registration be sold at the door?

No. Black BEAT will not offer registration at the door. Purchasing your ticket(s) in advance is the only way to be guaranteed admission. There will be a limited amount of tickets sold and you are encouraged to purchase your full registration or day pass once registration begins, March 1, 2008

How do I go about registering?

Attendees will go through a series of prompts via our website and once your registration is secured through our system or US mail, you'll receive a confirmation and access to our "Members-Only" section, where you will be able to interact with other attendees across the country. Once I purchase my registration, is it transferable?

Registration is NOT transferable to another person.

Can I purchase more than one (1) registration package?

Yes, however, a word of caution to both parties: if you are purchasing a ticket for someone and that person decides he/she will not be attending, the ticket is not transferable. Payments will be refunded to the person that originally purchased the ticket(s). We strongly advise that you purchase your tickets individually. .

Will I be able to obtain a refund?

There will be NO refunds granted after July 10, 2008. Refunds are subject to a $40 per person service charge plus the $4.50 processing fee per preson. Refund request must be submitted in writing and sent to the Black BEAT, PO Box 67351, Baltimore, MD 21215. Also, an email is to be sent to: Black BEAT, Inc. Before purchasing your registration, please review the refund guidelines.

Black BEAT, Inc reserves the right to cancel any registration any time for any reason . In the event that Black BEAT, Inc. cancels a registration, registration fees will be returned in full.

How early can I reserve my room at the host hotel?

All hotel reservations must be made through Black BEAT Inc. You will be prompted via our registration system to specify your lodging accomadations. You will not be able to call the hotel directly or the 800 to obtain one of the BB blocked rooms. Once you've purchased your registration, within 48 hours you will receive a hotel confirmation number. Hotel rooms secured by Black BEAT are limited. If you do not stay at the host hotel, it will be your responsibility to secure other accommodations & transportation to and from the host hotel.

Is there a due date to make hotel reservations?

Hotel reservations must be made on or before July 31, 2008. Should the hotel become filled prior to this date, there will be an overflow hotel available, however, you will be responsible for own transportation to and from the host hotel.

How can I obtain hotel information and is there a special group rate?

Once you have registered and made your hotel preferences via the registration system, a confirmation, along with hotel information will be forwarded to you within 7 business days. Attendees staying at the host hotel are guaranteed a group rate of $94.00 ( excluding tax) until July 31st or until all BB blocks rooms become filled. All rooms regardless of room type are based on double occupancy. Rooms that have over two guest will be charged an additional $10 per person, per night. Hotel rooms are available in King or Double, Smoking or Non Smoking. Sorry, No suites available at present.

I have a physical disability. Will there be accommodations for me?

Yes, and please do let us know as far ahead of time if you will have any special considerations or needs during the event.

Are there non-smoking and smoking rooms available?

Yes, there are both types of rooms available. To avoid any fines, please make sure you state during the registration process that you wish a non-smoking or smoking room. Black BEAT will hold no responsibility for anything that happens in your private quarters if caught smoking in a non-smoking designated room.

Is it acceptable to wear fetish attire in the hotel?

ABSOLUTELY NO fetish attire can be worn in the hotel common areas for the duration of the event. Hotel guidelines state that fetish attire and exposing of any body parts (nipples, breast, genital areas, buttocks, collar/leash) are strictly prohibited. All attendees must be dressed in casual, VANILLA attire during your stay. * Fetish wear is acceptable while in the dungeon area -- attendees must be completely covered until you are securely inside of the dungeon.

How can I find out about sharing a room or carpooling with someone attending Black BEAT?

Black BEAT holds no responsibility finding you a roommate or carpool mate. Once you have registered, you will be given an access to join the "members only" section. Once granted access to this exclusive area, create a profile for yourself for other attendees to learn about you. Also, feel free to post inquiries that you are seeking roommates, ride-sharing, or any other such information you may want or need.

Which airport is best to fly into for this event?

BWI- Baltimore Washington International or BWI Amtrak station.

Is there transportation to and from the Airport?

Yes, A free shuttle is available to and from BWI airport & Amtrak station. Once you arrive, you must locate the courtesy phone located in the baggage claim area and contact the hotel regarding your arrival and the terminal you are in. Please note: This service is solely available for those staying at the host hotel.

Please Note: There can be up to a 30 minute wait for the hotel shuttle.

Is there transportation to and from the host hotel to the dungeon?

Yes, there is transportation available for an additional fee of $30.00 for all guests that purchased full registration. The transportation fee must be paid at the time of registration to guarantee a seat on the motor coach. Black BEAT Inc. holds no responsibility should transportation not be purchased in advance and there is limited seating available.

Please note: There is no continuous transportation to and from once you arrive to the dungeon. All attendees must remain for the duration with the BB party unless providing own transportation

Where are most of the activities being held?

Our social dining, meet & greet, lectures/workshops, farewell breakfast, and Saturday Awards luncheon are held in the host hotel. Private dungeon activities exclusive to Black BEAT attendees will be held at the Crucible in Washington DC.

What meals are covered in my registration?

One (1) Dinner Buffet (Friday) One (1) Award Luncheon meal (Saturday) are included in the registration fee. Attendees will have access to local eateries within a five minute traveling distance or you can dine in the hotel's restaurant at your leisure.

Sunday's Farewell Jazz Breakfast is an additional charge of $20.00 which must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold day of breakfast.

When I attend the dungeon play party, do I have to play or dress in fetish wear?

Playing is not mandatory or required. If you wish to be a voyeur, that is perfectly fine. Fetish wear is also not mandatory but it's highly preferred.

Can you attend the exclusive Black BEAT Play Party only?

Yes, if tickets become available to non conference attendees. Dungeon prices are as follows: $40 Friday and Saturday. Or purchase a 2 day pass for $ 60.00. In order to attend this private event, you must have a written invitation from Black BEAT Inc., which must accompany you upon entry. The dungeon doors close at 12:00 AM Friday and Saturday. You must be 21 and over to attend with valid photo ID and must sign a consent and adhere to all rules that govern this event. NO EXCEPTIONS

Will there be vendors present during the weekend?

Yes, vendors will be present at the host hotel from 9AM - 5PM on Saturday, August 15th.

Will video, digital/cell phone cameras, audio, or any photography be allowed?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. There will be NO photography -- audio or video/digital/cell phone cameras allowed without express written consent from Black BEAT Inc.. Black BEAT Inc. has the sole discretion to confiscate the film and/or tape and expel anyone caught with any of these devices. You will be expelled from the remainder of the event, forfeiting any type of reimbursement or compensation. Members of the press must contact Public Relations within 30 days of the event. Cell phones are not allowed in the dungeon at any time.

*Black BEAT Staff Photographer's are exempt.
